Pension funds, which account for trillions of dollars ofinvesting activity, are caught in a multi-year bind betweentheir obligations and over-optimistic return assumptions. Theirboards have been focused on at least retaining the assets theyhave. The net result is that bonds, and especially U.S.Treasuries, have been seen as the ultimate safety.
